Is blown-in wool insulation dusty?
Comparatively speaking wool is not dusty
Compared to other blown-in insulation products, such as cellulose, Havelock insulation generates minimal dust. While there may be some dust from the wool and the blower, this is typically not a major concern for new constructions or larger remodeling projects. However, if you are undertaking a small renovation in an active living space, it might be wise to section off the area where you are blowing in the insulation or consider hand-stuffing the cavities instead. Additionally, you have the option to choose between two types of mesh insulation retainers: one made from non-woven material with smaller holes, designed to minimize dust, and another with larger holes that offers better visibility during the blowing process. Lastly, be sure to vacuum your stud bays and the surrounding construction area before installing Havelock, as the blower can stir up existing dust.
